Here's what you need to know

WSU's transportation department is independent from the university.

Since the transportation department is independent from the university, they do not receive any funding. They are also allowed to designate their own pricing system for parking lots and garages, and sports event parking. They are not held accountable by WSU to provide fair pricing.

Do you know where your money is going?

Sometimes things change. Parking lots can change color, prices can change, maintenance is performed. Transportation does not currently provide any budget or spending information to pass holders and does not inform paying students, faculty, and/or visitors of changes made to lots.

For example, recently a Blue parking lot was changed to Gray without notifying pass-holders. This meant individuals who purchased a Blue parking lot pass for that specific area were unable to use it. They had to either purchase a Gray lot pass or park elsewhere.

Let's compare rates:

Compared to many other smaller-town universities in Washington, our prices seem much higher -- starting at $70.00 for a motorcycle pass and extending all the way to $604.00 for an Orange lot pass.

Why does Transportation charge $30.00 for parking during football games?

Because they can. Since they are separate from WSU they can charge whatever they want for football games. This ultimately takes parking away from students and staff that have paid for a spot to park, causing us to find other areas to park.
